Company History

In the late 1960s, Arthur Landers left his manager job with a Boston electronics firm in order to avoid uprooting his family to the company’s new location in California.

While looking for work, Arthur was asked to look at some equipment problems that a small packaging company, for which his wife Nancy worked, was having. The packaging company invested in Arthur’s ideas—and Arthur became the new manager of LaminatedFILMS& Packaging.

At the same time, DuPont had been working with a handful of partner companies to introduce medical-grade Tyvek® to device manufacturers. DuPont called in Arthur to fix a machine that could seal a chevron peel pouch. His solution was successful and thereafter, the company that had been coating the Tyvek bought LaminatedFILMS. Arthur also developed the first machine to manufacture Tyvek pouches.

This business, located in Salem, Mass., grew so rapidly that the parent company of LaminatedFILMS moved the business to its main facility, out of state. Again, in order to avoid relocating, Arthur bought the company (excluding the medical packaging line) and focused on industrial and military packaging.

By the mid 1970s, after completing enlistment in the U.S. Coast Guard, Arthur’s son Jim Landers, currently CEO, joined the company. At this time the electronics industry was addressing much-needed changes to device packaging: As electronic components were becoming more sensitive, the package protection needed to improve.

LaminatedFILMS’ involvement in the development of new ESD materials would later lead to the company’s success in the Aerospace industry.

LaminatedFILMS resumed producing peel pouches when Arthur’s two-year non-compete in the medical packaging industry ended.

Our new facility in Portsmouth, N.H., was completed in 1984. With Jim now running the company, Arthur headed for Melbourne, FL to retire. Never one to rest, within the month Arthur launched a new clean-room facility in Melbourne to manufacture packaging systems for NASA sub-contactors. LaminatedFILMS’ close location to the Kennedy Space Center helped us become a respected supplier to the space program.

It was also during this time that Karen Beals, our current President, moved to New Hampshire from Bozeman, MT to attend the University of New Hampshire and earn her Master’s degree, all the while working at LaminatedFILMS. Karen assumed overall leadership and strategy for our company in 2009.

Kathy Landers, Jim’s wife, left the nursing field in 1995 to also join LaminatedFILMS.  Kathy is currently our Chief Financial Officer.

Forty years and infinite packaging products later, LaminatedFILMS is recognized industry-wide for delivering innovative packaging solutions on-time, within specifications, and with competitive pricing.

We are proud to say that Arthur’s commitment to product quality is evident with every flexible packaging solution we deliver.
